The DeWalt DWS780 Miter Saw is a powerful and highly versatile tool, designed to handle a wide range of cutting tasks with ease. The 15-amp, 3,800 RPM motor provides ample power to tackle tough materials, and the dual horizontal slide bars ensure smooth, precise cuts.
One of the standout features of the DWS780 is the DeWalt XPS Cross Cut Positioning System. This innovative technology uses a small LED light instead of a laser to cast a shadow of the blade onto the material being cut. This shadow provides an incredibly accurate representation of the cutline, and it remains visible even in bright sunlight. This feature is especially useful for rough cuts that don’t require tight tolerances, and it helps speed up the work process.
The back fence of the DWS780 also deserves mention. It enables the user to increase the normal cut depth of 1X material to a full 16-1/8″ at 90 degrees, and even to cross-cut a 2×12 at 45 degrees. This feature is incredibly valuable for cutting wide materials, and it helps to reduce the burden of traditional chop saws. Although the dust collection system has room for improvement, overall the DWS780 is a top-performing miter saw that is highly recommended for both professional and DIY users.
