The Ryobi P553 is a new addition to the miter saw line that boasts updated styling and several enhancements over the previous model, the P552. One of the key updates is the placement of the miter knob, now located in the front, which provides more traditional use for a miter saw. The base has also been reinforced, now with taller fences and a beefed up saw arm. Additionally, a dust shroud has been added in front of the blade to help collect sawdust, and the dust bag port doubles as a vacuum port for 1-1/4″ hoses.

While the P553 does not have an LED cut line system, it does offer a 1-1/4 in. dust port for standard dust collection systems to keep the work area clean, a miter range of 0-47 degrees left and right, and a 24-tooth carbide-tipped blade for fast, clean cuts. It has a 7-1/4″ blade and single bevel 0-45 degree with a cutting capacity for a 2×4 and 4-1/4″ cross cuts. The cordless 18V design is compact, making it convenient to carry, and it is part of the RYOBI ONE+ World’s Largest 18-Volt Tool System. The spindle lock makes blade changes easy and the machined and cast miter scale provides accuracy.
